Email: we are three

Ok, slight change of pace, but I have to post this great news :) For those of you who haven't heard - my brother and his wife are in India picking up their little girl. They got word in mid- December that the India courts had finalized the adoption, and they flew out New Years Day. Here is the latest (and cutest!!) email from them and the latest picture i have of Samyu:

Mission successful! We are back in Kochi at the Casino Hotel for the night. Tomorrow we fly to Delhi to get the visa process underway. Not sure about internet after that.


We have plenty of pictures and some shaky hand-held video (oh, joy!) which will be mandatory viewing for all later. Can't download until we are home, of course. We've also kept a written journal.


We have taken to calling her "Samyu", pronounced SAHM-yoo, which seemed to be her nickname at SKB. She is totally Mommy's girl. I mean totally. To say that she is "attached" to Charity is to miss a really good chance to use the words "welded" and "superglued." Charity has been holding her, holding her hand, or had her on her lap for the last four hours solid. She shows no sign at all of wanting to break away. MUST have physical contact with Charity at all times (might be a long night). I am good enough to hold her for thirty seconds, provided Charity is out of sight. At the end of thirty seconds, she wants down and wants to go and find Charity. If Charity is visible, being held by Daddy will NOT do.


Samyu is too confused to relax and play yet. Maybe tomorrow. She eats banana-flavored puffs. May branch out into curry and rice tonight. Or that may be disastrous. We'll see.


Anyway. Must go back upstairs and do whatever needs doing, since Charity's time is being monopolized.
